9pm doors, 9:30 pm show
In an intimate night of songwriting, storytelling and humor, Melanie Ida Chopko joins with dear friend Austin Willacy to celebrate the release of her new single, Below the Weather & The Waves. A dialogue between herself and the ocean, the song reflects on staying centered during difficulty, while feeling, what all great teachers describe, "the place that has no difficulty." Featuring rich, full band arrangements with Schuler Karr on bass, Kele Nitoto on percussion, and more.
Melanie Ida Chopko writes and performs "with wit, acuity and grace.” Her songs on piano and guitar feature astute lyrics and melody, a sort of modern folk with a big crush on everything else. In the tradition of the citizen artist, she is as interested in the complexity of the world around her as the one within herself, exploring both with artistry, intimacy and humor. If Joni Mitchell, Nina Simone and Rebecca Solnit were neighbors and made music on Sundays, it might sound like this. melanieidachopko.com
